I would like to share my experience travelling to Canada with all the new restrictions.
It might help someone cause I learnt one or two things from this forum.
Please note I had my visiting visa since 2019 but never used it.
Firstly I have a family member so I'm be eligible to travel at this time, a family member is either immediate or extended. immediate is a parent, spouse etc. Extended is a sibling, grand child etc ( please refer to the website for further clarifications)
For immediate family you don't need a statutory form or an authorisation letter but you do for an extended family.
I came in as an extended family member and this was my process
Step 1: Get your family member and yourself to both fill the Application for authorization and statutory declaration
this form is for family member in Canada older than 18 years old there is a different one for a minor. ( check website)
Step 2: Family member goes to a notary/Lawyer to get form signed and pay a fee
Step 3: Email form and other details to IRCC
Step 4: Buy your ticket and prepare to travel
Step 5: Call the Government approved numbers to book a hotel for quarantine
call can only be 48 hrs to departure flight. For this step I paid $1154 which includes hotel, breakfast lunch and dinner for the 3 days and two covid tests one at the airport on arrival and one on day 10 of quarantine). Print your hotel confirmation.
Step. 6: the arrive can app and fill in your details, flight, hotel, where you would quaint for the remaining 11 days if your first covid test comes out negative. Print your arrivecan receipt.
Step 7: Do the first covid test in Nigeria before your flight
Step 8: book for the second covid test to be done at the airport in Canada to avoid queues( my advise). you can book on the switch health.ca ( print your appointment)
Step 8: arrive on the day of your flight early because all the things above would be scanned by your airline and sent for approval( not sure who they sent it to. I flew Lufthansa), you have to wait for the approval before you are allowed to board your flight.
Step 9: Get on your flight and arrive Canada( I flew to Toronto, only four international airports are opened at this time)
Step 10: I did immigration twice because they really wanted to confirm I had family and they asked for all the above things mentioned too.
Step 10: grab your bags
Step 11: Do your second covid test at the exit of the airport
Step. 12: Use an airport taxi/shuttle to get to your hotel. All the hotels are around the airport.
Step 13: Start quarantine and wait for your covid test. I came in on a Saturday so didn't get my result till Monday, if you get a negative result earlier you are allowed to check out and go and continue your 14 days quarantine at your preferred location.
I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights, they delivered breakfast, lunch and dinner but they were all oyinbo food so I struggled with that.
Step 14: Checked out on my last day and proceeded to my place of quarantine using an uber.
Step. 15: You have to report on the arrive can for the 14 days so they know if you developed any symptoms or not( quite straight forward)
Step 16: Do your third covid test on day 10, they provide a covid kit at the airport and its picked up at your location. all the instructions are in the kit.
I finished my. quarantine few days ago.
I hope someone finds this overwhelming process helpful.

PLEASE I NEED HELP!!! My mum has been asked to submit her port for Canadian Visitor's Visa. How do I proceed with transmitting this to VFS

ope2000(m): 11:26am On Apr 07, 2021 |
Sos . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE did anyone pay for Transmission after pay $185 for application. Cos vfs can confuse Abeg. I chatted online and got this information.
Kindly be informed that for the process of port transmission, you can send in all required documents via a one-way courier process, using your preferred courier service agency, to the Visa Application Centre of VFS. However, bear in mind that once the port is ready for collection, after the process is completed at the Embassy, you will be ed on how to make payment for the VFS in-house courier delivery process for port return. Kindly find below the process for package transmission fee:If you have received notification from the Government of Canada requesting your port, your port along with the request letter may be submitted through the Canada Visa Application Centre. With your port(s), make sure you include:• The port request letter(s) you received from IRCC• Any applicable visa Application Centre (VAC) fees, such as port transmission fees• Your information, including your email address and phone number (written in front of the two photocopies of the data page of your international port)• The Collection Slip you were given on the day biometrics was captured; for those who had their biometrics captured for this application.• VFS Consent Form. The service charge mentioned for port transmission (N 7,430 per applicant, with an optional SMS Fee of N830, please pay the same if you have not done biometrics at the same VAC and for the same application). This can be paid at any STERLING Bank counter; the Name and Number: CANADA LOGISTIC COLLECTION (a/c no 0065165839), include the proof of payment in the package to be sent as well. Also, mail us the details of payment at [email protected] or [email protected] But if Biometrics was captured for this application, at the same VAC where port is sent to, you will need to include the slip given on biometrics day in the package to be sent; this will exempt you from the above payment. Make a copy of same slip for your personal reference.

Hi all!
Is anyone else talking forever to get their request for port?
My TRV application was approved a few weeks ago but I’ve yet to receive a request for port.
Is there any thing I can do to speed things up?
Please when did you submit you’re TRV application, also are u a family member of a Canadian citizen or PR holder? I’m about to send out my visit visa application so I want to know how long it’ll take. Also, I have a family class permanent residence application ongoing too.

1. No
2.No
3. Letter of introduction, your pay stub and statement. Also write a brief LOE, that you will be in charge of his expenses and accommodation.
4. Nope not needed. In fact you are always advised not to buy any ticket until your visa is approved. However, in his LOE, he can explain his itinerary.
The above was what we did for my mum and she got approved.
Hi Maziude,
Please what documents did your mum provide as proof of ties to naija?
I am sponsoring 100%.
Thank you.

No documents. Lol.
We just said she my dad and siblings are still in naija.
Same too, we are sponsoring 100%. The only document she gave from her own end during the application was a copy of her port.

But I know that things will soon change and revert to the usual processing time

Hi.
There is an email you can send use so they prioritise your visa application based on exception (check their website for categories of exempted people.
I sent the mail to them and I got a response in about 10days.
Submitted application 31 Dec 2020
Confirmation of application 8 Feb 2021
I didnt need to do biometrics as I have done few years back.
I sent prioritization email to IRCC 24 March 2021
I got my port request last week Friday.
IRCC.COVID-TravelExemptions-Exemptionsdevoyage-COVID.IRCC@cic.gc.ca
I hope you find this useful.
Please let's all read their website and follow the instructions before sending a mail as their are strict instructions you should take time out to follow step by step.
All the best

Hi,
Does anyone have suggestions on good and affordable airlines flying from Lagos to Toronto at the moment please? I am torn between Lufthansa and Ethiopian Airlines but prices are not smiling. I know summer travel dates are crazy but any help on options is appreciated.
PS: The flight is for my mum, so I am particular about shorter layovers.
Thank you.

Hi Newmum,
I'd say Ethiopian because most times it cheaper than the rest. However, comfort might not be that great.
My mum is also coming to Toronto soon and I wanted to ask if you did written authorization for your mum. I know CIC says immediate family do not need it but I would just like to re-confirm from someone who is also going through the process.
Also, what other documents would she be going with.
Thanks in advance.
